Automated Failover
If one of your data centers, servers or network providers goes down, don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Through our UltraDNS global network, we rapidly detect outages in your DNS resources. Besides alerting you via email, we reroute your traffic to available locations, ensuring you’re always up and running. It’s the ultimate insurance policy.
Here’s how it works. Monitoring agents residing at locations across the globe perform standard protocol or transaction-based testing against pre-selected servers. Each server is monitored by multiple agents to assure testing integrity. When it determines a server is down, our system initiates a failover, automatically modifying the DNS response record for that server. When the server has been restored to service, the DNS response record is replaced with the original one.

Global Load Balancing
Load balancing is essential when you have multiple data centers, content delivery networks or servers spread across various facilities. By evenly distributing traffic, you ensure no one server is overburdened by sudden activity. It’s a smart way to avoid bottlenecks or costly outages.
It’s even smarter to balance loads in the cloud, harnessing the power of the UltraDNS global network. By constantly monitoring host servers, it yields metrics that enable dynamic responses to DNS requests, guaranteeing the most efficient routing to your resources. Moreover, you have the ability to define load balancing configurations, setting thresholds for notification, weight redistribution and failover. You can also direct probes at either the record or pool level for simpler management. We offer weighted load balancing along with the traditional round-robin approach, letting you assign a weight or percentage of traffic to a host server.
