Neustar UltraDNS - Cyber Security Forum

This summer, millions of football fans from around the world will flock to the Internet to view streaming video of matches, purchase gear to support their national team, place bets on matches, or for the luckiest of fans purchase match tickets, book travel, or view South African tourism websites for travel advice. At the same time, cyber criminals will be attempting to expose and capitalize on vulnerabilities from missed security measures that are magnified by big events like the Fifa World Cup. Cyber criminals believe big events such as the World Cup stack the odds in their favour to commit cyber-based attacks, but for organisations these events also present an opportunity to ensure that they are fully aware of the latest cyber threats and have their IT systems secured to prevent attacks.

According to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, UK organisations have been hit by a new wave of security breaches, costing billions of pounds, despite the fact that security remains high on management’s agenda and security budgets have remained consistent despite the recession. Whether it is direct attacks on online business operations, such as e-commerce or customer service, or attacks that leverage the Internet to access the corporate network, Internet-based attacks pose some of the greatest threats to business continuity and security. In addition, as the cyber criminals look for vulnerabilities to expose, their attention is increasingly being focused on the Domain Name System (DNS).

Neustar’s Threat Intelligence Group estimates that every week between 15-20 medium enterprises are each losing £100,000 due to cyber-based fraud from just ONE form of malware. Cybercrimes reported to the FBI alone amounted to £182 million in 2008. Furthermore, the Conficker Working Group is reporting that over 6 million devices are now infected by Conficker, many of which are located in large corporate networks.

Neustar would like to invite you to this exclusive executive forum, where security experts from industry and law enforcement will provide an overview of the Internet and network threat landscape and offer insights into how to incorporate Internet security into your current threat & vulnerability analysis framework.

Issues discussed include:
  • How to incorporate Internet security threats into your current threat & vulnerability analysis framework
  • A better understanding of the motivations behind hackers and other malicious attacks
  • An update on the latest attacks affecting UK organisations
  • Why developing an effective security strategy is so difficult
  • An update on the latest DNS-based security threats
  • How Neustar UltraDNS Services address these threats for customers
