UltraDNS Corporation to Extend Carrier- Class Directory-Initiated Services GloballyContinued network deployment and hiring of new executive highlight aggressive globalization planSAN MATEO, Calif., February 14, 2001 - UltraDNS Corporation, a privately held company that focuses on offering highly innovative technology and solutions for scalable directory services for Internet and communications system infrastructures, today announced plans to expand internationally, along with the appointment of Ray Stephens, Executive Director of International Markets, to lead the initiative. Given the tremendous demand for outsourced DNS solutions, UltraDNS is in the process of building a global network and aggressively marketing its product. Initially, UltraDNS will focus its international expansion efforts on Europe and Asia Pacific, which are enjoying explosive growth in Internet traffic from both wireless and wireline access media. UltraDNS supports its aggressive global network expansion with an extensive international infrastructure to include servers in London, Japan and Australia. The London server is a cornerstone of the UltraDNS commercial carrier-class network of distributed high-performance, full failover servers. UltraDNS utilizes data centers at top-tier global hosting companies to co-locate servers and will use existing Tier 1 global networks to further its network expansion. "As the Internet grows and companies expand globally, reliable DNS management becomes an absolute must," said Ben Petro, chief marketing officer of UltraDNS Corporation. "UltraDNS recognizes this need and is working to meet and sustain the demand that is so prevalent in emerging international markets." UltraDNS realizes the tremendous global market potential of managed services, and will continue to support this growth with further network deployment. Research indicates that 50 percent of domains will be international by 2004, driven in part by the explosion of ccTLD (country code top-level domain) registrations. "In order for global companies to deliver a consistent user experience to their Web-based customers, they will demand a carrier-class global network like UltraDNS," said Petro. "Multinationals demand carrier-class IT across their entire organization," said Ray Stephens. "We are also seeing emerging economies in the nascent stages of developing their communications infrastructure, heightening the need for secure and reliable DNS." Ray Stephens BackgroundRay Stephens joins UltraDNS from Jetstream Communications, a leading manufacturer of converged telecom and broadband Internet equipment, where he managed business intelligence and strategic business issues relating to market trends, competition and emerging technologies in the voice over broadband arena. Prior to joining Jetstream, he worked for the global constancy Booz-Allen & Hamilton. At QSI, a communications research firm, he held highly successful leadership positions and managed multiple engagements for telecom clients. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.
