UltraDNS Joins Sonus Networks' Open Services Partner Alliance

SAN MATEO, Calif., May 23, 2001 UltraDNS, the leading Directory Infrastructure Services Provider (DISP) that guarantees mission-critical directory reliability and performance, announced today that it has joined with Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading provider of voice infrastructure solutions for the new public network, to promote packet voice technology and solutions to the carrier market. The partnership comes under the sponsorship of Sonus Networks' Open Services Partner Alliance™ (OSPA).

As a member of Sonus' OSPA, UltraDNS joins more than 130 leading vendors in the development of end-to-end, packet-based integrated solutions for the new public network. The goal of the OSPA is to empower standards-based interoperability between applications, hardware vendors and the Sonus family of products.

UltraDNS's Managed DNS Service significantly enhances Internet application availability and performance by ensuring that connections to those applications are always made. When a customer attempts to access a hosted application, the customer's DNS query, which identifies the servers that run the application, are directed to the UltraDNS global DNS server network where it automatically gets routed to the closest server for resolution. By employing advanced fail-over mechanisms and reliable Oracle database and replication technology, the Managed DNS service is able to deliver high performance DNS resolution with SLA-backed availability.
