UltraDNS Names Rodney Joffe as CTO

Internet Business Pioneer to Steer Managed DNS Service Technology Efforts

SAN MATEO, Calif. July 10, 2001 UltraDNS™ Corporation, the leading Directory Infrastructure Services Provider (DISP), which guarantees mission-critical directory reliability and performance, today announced that Chairman of the Board Rodney Joffe has been named Chief Technology Officer. Joffe will continue as chairman of the board.

Joffe's 25-year career is built on the innovative application of new and leading-edge technologies. A founder of Genuity, the world's largest web hosting company, he is considered a pioneer in the current trend of migrating business applications to the Internet. This additional responsibility signals Joffe's greater involvement in the company's outsourced managed services, directory infrastructures and technology developments. Former CTO Steve Hotz continues to work with UltraDNS as part of its Technical Advisory Board composed of leading technologists in the Internet and telephony space. Hotz will continue to add value around UltraDNS' first service offering, Managed DNS Service™.

UltraDNS' Managed DNS Service is the first fully integrated, outsourced service for the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS) that is designed to ensure that Internet users' application connections are always available and always correct.

"Directory infrastructure is the key to the evolution of Internet and other, related communications technologies. Our Managed DNS Service is only a single implementation of the directory infrastructure technology UltraDNS has created," said Joffe. "This is an exciting time in the company's development and I'm looking forward to rolling out the directory services that are natural extensions of our DNS technology."

"While searching for an individual with the credentials to help extend UltraDNS' technology into new directory spaces, we found ourselves comparing each candidate to Rodney. Simply nobody measured up to that standard," said Ben Petro, CEO of UltraDNS. "We finally realized, given Rodney's abilities and his previous work as Ultra's chairman, he was the perfect fit. I'm glad we have the opportunity to work more closely with him as CTO."

UltraDNS is commercializing a unique and highly innovative (patents pending) directory service-related technology platform that was initially developed under Joffe's leadership at CenterGate Research Group, an organization focused on developing leading-edge Internet and IT-related infrastructure technologies. Joffe holds numerous patents in the computing field and is the founder and president of CenterGate. He began his career in computing in 1973 and registered his first patent in the computing field in 1974. Joffe's entrepreneurial efforts have included founding Genuity and the invention of Hopscotch™, the preeminent Internet load-balancing and routing technology designed specifically for mission-critical online commerce.
